Harvard - Differentiating Instruction

Differentiating instruction is about personalising the curriculum for the students in order to meet their needs, capitalise on their strengths and foster their capabilities.
Differentiation assumes that students bring different types of knowledge and experience related to curricular goals. It acknowledges that different students will need to engage in the ideas and skill areas of the curriculum from different entry points.

As part of its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, the ILT Project funded participation for all project staff in the 'Differentiating Instruction: Effective Classroom Practice' Course. This course was delivered online by Harvard Wide World which is a joint project developed by Project Zero and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. (View Video Here (6.8MB))

Informal Training

Several resources were available for project participants in order to avail of ongoing informal training. Atomic learning is an online repository of video tutorials on popular software tools and techniques that is ideally suited to developing just-in-time technical skills. There were also advisors on-hand in the form of technical and application support working in conjunction with the ICT co-ordinator for the project, to provide ongoing training and assistance in the use of the technology.
